TAMPA, FL. (March 20, 2018) – Award-winning filmmaker, educator, and director Tamara Nemirovsky has been selected as an official judge at this year’s Gasparilla International Film Festival and will be judging a round of films in the upcoming festival that runs from Tuesday, March 20th to Sunday, March 25th.
“I’m very happy to return as a grand juror of the Gasparilla International Film Festival. Film festivals such as GIFF play an important role in developing the filmmakers of tomorrow,” says Ms. Nemirovsky. “I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for film festivals, I would never have been able to study in the United States and develop my career.”
Ms. Nemirovsky will be a juror in the short film category, something she is very familiar with, having developed several shorts films herself as well as helping hundreds of students develop their own short films.
“Short films are typically produced with a small budget and are often labors of love. It is through short films that budding filmmakers can demonstrate their skills, and present their vision to an audience for the first time. Success in developing a short film is often the first step to gaining access to important industry connections and potentially larger productions,” she says.
Originally from Argentina, Ms. Nemirovsky is no stranger to the film circuit. Her award-winning stop-motion films have been screened internationally, and she is currently developing a stop-motion and a documentary filmmaking class at USF in the fall of 2018.
Ms. Nemirovsky holds an MFA from Miami International University and also serves as the Director of Video Production at Absolute Marketing Solutions, a Tampa marketing company that has produced digital video projects for clients such as myMatrixx, an Express Scripts Company, Alessi Bakeries, Taco Bus, and more.
